Friends!!!!! Would you be my summer fling? The Summer Fling series will plan some fun and social outdoor events for us to get our vitamin D and have a good time outdoors (and maybe we’ll be indoors for some events)!

• If no, great, let’s learn together, or at the very least, let's have a good time in the sun!

We’re back for our monthly gathering of Book’d Up, and this month’s literary spotlight is Skin & Bones - By: Renee Watson
Renée Watson’s skin & bones follows Lena Baker, a 40-year-old Black, plus-size single mother in Portland, whose life is upended by a heartbreaking revelation on her wedding day. As she rebuilds, Lena confronts body image struggles, motherhood, and the daily weight of microaggressions, while also preserving her community’s history through her work in DEI. Written in lyrical, poetic prose, the novel explores themes of identity, resilience, and self-love, offering a powerful story of heartbreak, healing, and taking up space.
Whether you've been with us from the start or you're just joining in, this is your space — where Black literature meets culture, connection, and real conversation.
