What we're about

The Blast Furnace is a monthly meetup, competition & education session
aimed at all levels of programmers.

It's an interactive Meetup that requires you to bring your own computer (BYOC). We will provide power, internet and pizza!

Each Blast Furnace event is organised into two sections. The first hour is split into two parts; Coding for beginners in one section and coding competitions for intermediate and advanced coders in another. Following that we enjoy some Pizza and then come together to collaborate on a joint project where we can all learn from each other!

Ever wondered how your Amazon packages get to your door so quickly? The answer is robots! Amazon have one of the most advanced product sorting facilities in the world. Its powered by state-of-the-art robots that work together to quickly find products and bring them to the operator for shipment. In the next Blast Furnace we will be covering the fundamentals by programming a smaller version of the Amazon robots called THYMIO. We will be learning how to program them to navigate the Dashworks Makespace and avoid each other. It will be presented by Peter Turner from Tribotix! It's a BYOC (bring your own computer) event.
