Blender 3D Meetup #1!
Details
Hello future 3D artists!
In our first meetup, we will get an overview of the entire 3D production pipeline, from script to finished film, including storyboarding; recording dialog; creating an animatic for timing; modeling characters, props, and sets; 3D scanning; animation and motion capture; compositing; and adding sound effects and music. A great primer for understanding the process can be seen at Khan Academy's "Pixar in a Box":
https://www.khanacademy.org/partner-content/pixar/start/introduction/v/pipeline-video.
Throughout our successive meetups, we will be incorporating all these steps while working on our very own animated film. We will also get acquainted with the basics of the Blender 2.8 interface, so you know where stuff is and how to get going!
Finally, we will demo our new Rokoko Motion Capture suit that we just received from Denmark via UPS today! WooooooHOOOOOOO! We will also demo our new Occipital Sensor CORE 3D scanner, to make the creation of 3D characters, props, and other assets WAY easier and more efficient.
If you would like to get a head start, download Blender 2.80 for Windows or Mac (NOT 2.79, BIG difference, we will be working exclusively with 2.80 and later versions as they are released). Find it here: https://www.blender.org/download/
Blender is Open Source software and completely FREE! It is very powerful and can do many things, so when you first open it, it can seem a bit overwhelming. But fear not (we eat fear for breakfast!). We will be going over everything in time, as we reach the phases of the film that require the different modules. If you'd like to jump start your knowledge, visit https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLa1F2ddGya_-UvuAqHAksYnB0qL9yWDO6 and work through the tutorials.
We are VERY excited to meet all of you, for you to meet each other, and to get cracking on making animated films! Please RSVP soon, so that we know how many people to accommodate. If there are lots and lots of people attending, we may move the venue to a bigger space close by.
I look forward to seeing all of you there!
