In this session, John "Kiffmeister" Kiff discusses the latest updates (and boy are there tons of it) in the retail CBDC space, drawing from our recent engagement with central banks, academic material and news to help interpret what it all means and where it is all heading.

John Kiff, now retired from the IMF, was Senior Financial Sector Expert at the International Monetary Fund since 2005. Prior to joining the Fund, Kiffmeister worked at Bank of Canada, where he was involved in various financial markets analytic and trading activities. Join us August 3rd at 8AM EST for a conversation with Richard Turrin, author of the bestselling book Cashless: China's Digital Currency Revolution as we delve into the latest on China's CBDC and its global implications. The session will be hosted by Jamiel Sheikh and wil include a short presentation by Richard followed by an interactive session between the host and Richard and Q&A from the audience.

The first segment will be followed by an analysis of China's recently released CBDC paper by Professor David Wen of Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS)浙江大学国际联合商学院. David will look at what the paper means and what is potentially new in it that we can learn from.
