  • Blockstack NYC Meetup #3: Enterprise Applications

Welcome to the third Blockstack NYC Meetup! Blockstack is a new decentralized web, where users own their data and apps run on user devices without the need for servers. We have a community of over 1,200 developers and 60,000 users. For this meetup we will focus on enterprise applications of Blockstack. There has been a lot of interest and hype around applications of blockchains in banking, IoT, and cloud & telco infrastructure. However, so far we're only seeing small proof-of-concepts and not real deployments. Blockstack is the largest non-financial production system running on the Bitcoin blockchain and provides a general platform for secure naming, authentication, and storage. We'll discuss potential use cases of Blockstack for large enterprises and hear from Microsoft about how they're using Blockstack. Background reading on Blockstack: USENIX'16 paper (http://blockstack.org/blockstack.pdf). Agenda: The tentative agenda is below. This agenda is likely to change. 6:30pm-7:00pm: Networking 7:00pm-7:10pm: Kick-off & Intros 7:15pm-7:30pm: Overview of Blockstack Ryan Shea, Blockstack Inc 7:30pm-7:40pm: Applications of Blockstack at Microsoft Yorke Rhodes, Microsoft 7:40pm-8:00pm: TBA 8:00pm-8:15pm: Demos 8:15pm-8:30pm: Networking & Clean Up We'll have pizza, beverages, and some Blockstack swag!
