What is your experience in or of cohousing, intentional community, communal living?

Shortly after college, I chose an apartment based on a church small group composed of members located in a particular neighborhood. They were one to two blocks away in various directions, but we spent a lot of time hanging out evenings and weekends in addition to official small group meetings. Then I moved to another town for a job and randomly found an apartment. I visited a promising church and found that four other single women and a family from that church lived right across the street from me. Both were great experiences.

I grew up in Btown, and moved back home after too many years away. I am currently keeping an eye on aging parents, and will likely rent as long as they may need to move in with them. Very interested in Cohousing when that phase of my life ends.
