We will meet at the Table Rock State Park Nature Center at 8 a.m., and climb Table Rock Mountain, out and back, 3.7 miles each way for a total of 7.4 miles. Elevation gain is more than 2,300'. Will plan to be back at the Nature Center by 2 p.m. This is the first part of the day.
THE NEXT PART IS OPTIONAL, but is encouraged. The Foothills Trail Conservancy is having a picnic from 2-7 p.m., at the White Oak picnic shelter in Table Rock State Park. The picnic itself begins at 4:30. In order to attend you must be a member of the Conservancy. You can go to the FTC website and sign up. Then let me (Gail:[masked]) know that you are a member and I'll send you a link to register for the picnic. The cost is $10 per person. Park admission is free to participants.
I want you all to remember that when all the trails were closing last year, the Foothills Trail was open during COVID. It's not a big organization like the Appalachian Trail so they depend on those who hike it to help with funds to keep it working. I think you will enjoy meeting the hikers who have given their time and money to keep the Foothills Trail going.
Even if you don't attend the picnic, you are welcome to hike Table Rock with us.
