What we’re about
WHO WE ARE: An adventure and social group open to people of ALL ages and ALL experience levels. We have organizers and members throughout the Blue Ridge, who will post Outdoor Activities as well as Social Events. <br>
WHAT WE DO: A wide variety of outdoor activities as well as social activities including but not limited to: hiking, biking, walking, kayaking, listening to music, movie/lunch, picnics and new member events. We try to post at least 3 events per month. Some activities may be cross-posted with The Roanoke Outdoor & Social Club, 5 O'clock or Wine, Travel & Fun Group. You only need to sign up in 1 group. Have an idea? Suggest it by messaging the organizer. <br>
WHO ARE THE LEADERS: Our volunteer organizer is Dave Hartzig, a former first responder from NY and devoted outdoorsman. Our other co-organizers and event leaders also generously volunteer their time. Our leadership team is not certified / professional guides. They do this for the love of nature and pure fun and joy of it. <br>
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF OUR MEMBERS: This isn't a dating group. We have members of varied statuses, so please be respectful of boundaries and if you meet someone, well that’s cool. Post a photo of yourself that's current and use at least your first name in your profile so we know who we’re meeting. When it comes to activities, you are responsible for knowing your own abilities. If you hike with Dave, he usually has two-way radios and a first aid kit with him in case of an emergency, but ultimately you are responsible for your own safety. Bring supplies: food, water, etc. appropriate for the activity. If you sign-up for an event and change your mind, that's fine, just be respectful and change your RSVP so we know who is coming to an event. If you engage in inappropriate behavior on the page or at events you will be removed from the group. <br>
WHAT IS THE COST: The group is free to join. However there are fees associated with the maintenance of this site as well as the cost of putting on events such as food, transportation when we carpool, etc. Free will donations are appreciated but not required. They can be sent to Dave at fedexroanoke0240@gmail.com or in person. Our leadership DOES NOT profit from this group. All proceeds are used for this group. <br>
