Board Game Café (BGC) is an outreach initiative of Trillium United Church (in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada) that provides a safe and welcoming environment for those who enjoy playing board games. BGC is open to adults (18 and up) and older youth (16 and 17) who enjoy classic games (Scrabble, Monopoly, card games, etc.) and newer games (Settlers of Catan, Seven Wonders, Dominion, etc.) We often have some brand new games to try as well and encourage gamers to bring their own games to share with the community. We are currently experimenting with allowing Youth (ages 12-15) accompanied by an adult (one to one) to participate in BGC from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.
As you may appreciate, RSVPs on BGC’s Meetup page only capture a small number of the people who attend. For those who are using the RSVP feature on Meetup we thank you. Don’t be put off, however, if the number on any evening is on the smaller side. Some of our best attended evenings have had only a smattering of RSVPs.
BGC is in Cambridge at 450 King Street East (just south of Eagle St. - entry is on Waterloo Street - look for the BGC sign). For the moment we are only running BGC once a month on the second Friday. We hope to return to a twice a month schedule in the near future. We meet from 7:30 pm to 12:00 pm. The location is a safe, well-lit area with plenty of parking on street and in city lots. Check our parking map in the Photo Album section. Entry is $5 at the door for Adults and Older Youth (Youth participants are free.) Regular and specialty coffees and teas are available as well as a selection of snacks for $1-$2. Bring your game-playing friends or come and meet some new ones. We're wheelchair accessible and are welcoming and inclusive of everyone. Get yer game face on and we'll see you Friday night!
