Harmony and Goodwill: day retreat with Karma Norbu

Helios Centre

## Harmony and Goodwill

Karma Norbu began his meditation practice in India in 1971. He spent most of his working life as a professional musician, travelling the world. He received ordination as a monk from Ringu Tulku Rinpoche during Bodhicharya Summercamp in Portugal in 2018.

## THE FOUR IMMEASURABLES or THE FOUR BOUNDLESS QUALITIES

May all beings have happiness, and the causes of happiness
May all beings be free from suffering, and the causes of suffering
May they never be separated from the sublime bliss, free from suffering
May they abide in equanimity, free from attachment and aversion

As one develops inner peace and consistency, one equally cultivates outer goodwill and harmony.

In this Day Retreat we will examine, discuss and meditate on the Four Immeasurables, which we find in all schools of Buddhism. These are the qualities that we seek to nurture and develop in order to generate and sustain bodhicitta, the awakened heart/mind to benefit ourselves and all sentient beings, bringing lasting peace and happiness.

We normally recite the Four Immeasurables when beginning any formal practice, but don’t often examine their meaning in depth. How can we apply these qualities in our daily life, in our interactions with each other and our environment? How can they benefit our meditation practice?

The basis of this Retreat are the teachings of the great Nyingma Master, Patrul Rinpoche, in his ‘Words of My Perfect Master’, as presented by Ringu Tulku in Dublin, 2012.

Everybody is welcome!
