Webster is turning 13 this year and I thought hard about what he would enjoy. Bogus is great for summer dog walks- no rattlesnakes, cheetgrass and cooler temps.
We'll meet at the top of Bogus (as everyone drives different speeds) at 6:30 pm. Mountain bikers end around 7 pm so there should be few people by the time we get to the front trails. There will still be some bikes, but not as many on the back side.
What to bring: WATER. There is no water on the trail.
Meeting location: Drive up Bogus. As you reach the top, you'll see the Simplot lodge on your right. Continue driving through the dirt parking lot. About 1 block on the left will be 2 bathrooms. We'll meet near these restrooms as it is easier to find people away from the more used parking area. Suggest you use the restrooms here.
Once everyone gathers, we'll continue driving up 1-2 miles to the Pioneer lodge. There is no restroom or water at Pioneer so plan accordingly.
We'll start out on a wide track trail. All things considering, the trails are relatively level, not a huge amount of up and down.
Continue to the north side of Bogus for some great mountain views. Finishing on a narrow trail back to the cars.
As usual, with Webster in attendance we'll be going SLOW so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy scenery. Also stopping frequently for water breaks.
RSVP opens 2 weeks before the hike.
