What we're about

Book Chats @ the ABC Amsterdam is a monthly book club dedicated to the fine art of slowing down, taking stock, and doing what we do best: talking about our favourite books. We're setting aside some time, once a month, to get together with like-minded book-lovers from around the community to sip some tea (or coffee), nibble on some snacks, and chat about the novels that have been making waves and capturing imaginations around the world.
Each month we'll be choosing a new book to read (mostly chosen by vote here on Meetup), which we can discuss and dig into at our monthly meetups at the ABC in Amsterdam (or online, if in person isn't an option).
With a focus on English-language fiction published during the last few years, we want to make Book Chats a space for making friends and diving together into the diverse worlds offered up by some of today's most dynamic voices in literature.
For a list of recent books we've read, see https://abc.nl/highlights/book-chats

We will be doing this Book Chat online.
Hope to see you all!

For our April Book Chat we will be reading Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake: https://abc.nl/book-details/alone-with-you-in-the-ether/@9781035012916

About the book:
Two people meet in the Art Institute by chance. He is a doctoral student who manages his destructive thoughts with compulsive calculations about time travel; she is a bipolar counterfeit artist, undergoing court-ordered psychotherapy. For both of them, life has been a matter of resigning themselves to the blueprints of inevitability—until they meet. Could six conversations with a stranger be the variable that shakes up the entire simulation?

Happy reading!

(I'll be including trigger warnings from now on, to make sure our book club is a safe and fun space for everyone. Reader-supplied content/trigger warnings for this book can be found here: https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/457c4db1-ede0-4a12-ab03-ba555e532eab/content_warnings)
