Are you a book lover? Do you love discussing ideas? Then this is the group for you!
This is a book club that focused on a variety of fiction and non-fiction books. These include classic literature, self help, science fiction, poetry, short stories & religious text. The goal is to develop a diverse set of skills, experience and knowledge. There is a whole world of interesting stories, ideas & thoughts that we are looking to explore!
The group meets once a month, in a quiet venue to discuss the ideas from what we read. These are group based discussions, where we give space for everyone to share their thoughts and ideas. We choose the books based off of member recommendations.
If you want to learn and cultivate a more well rounded view of the world, this is the group for you! Our lively conversation will leave you feeling excited and fulfilled. I hope to see you at our next event, and hear what you have to say. :)
We will be reading and discussing the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu(Stephen Mitchell Translation) for our first meeting. This book is very counter to our western industrialized society that promotes doing, doing, doing. It is an extremely short book, but every line has deep meaning. I'm looking forward to getting to hear everyones thoughts on the ideas in the book. :)
Do you want to improve the world?
I don't think it can be done.
The world is sacred.
It can't be improved.
If you tamper with it, you'll ruin it.
If you treat it like an object, you'll lose it.
1:45 Get Coffee, Water, informal conversations
2:15 We'll start the meeting. We have everyone introduce themselves and share the thoughts/ideas/insights they got from the book
2:30 Once we have gone through the whole table, we'll open it up to free form conversation. I'll moderate the conversation, to ensure everyone gets a chance to speak, and everyones ideas are heard/respected.
4:00 We'll end the meeting
