Did you know that fermentation is one of the oldest forms of food preservation, and that any fruit or vegetable can easily be pickled through a natural fermentation process? In this 1-hour introductory fermentation class, you will taste a variety of homemade pickles, learn about the fermentation process, and create your own jar of lacto-fermenting veggies. We will address common questions and concerns about the safety and nutritional value of fermented foods and discuss the difference between vinegar "quick-pickles" and traditional lacto-fermented pickles. This class is accessible to all ages and children are encouraged to attend! All necessary materials will be provided.
