What we're about

Boston 1 is a nonprofit dragon boat club operating out of the Boston Harbor. Our water season starts May 7, 2022!

Boston 1 is a team that balances a fun social atmosphere with a competitive edge - a family away from home where we encourage friendship, support and physical fitness. We are always looking for more members year-round.

If you join Boston 1, there will be ample opportunities to race, paddle, socialize, and get stronger together. During a normal year, we race in regional dragon boat race festivals about 6 times over the summer. We treat race events like road trips: driving with friends around the Northeast, paddling competitively, having adventures, eating, drinking and getting to know each other better!

Dragon boat is an athletic sport. We aren't going for a lazy sight-seeing paddle. Your heart will be pumping, you will get sweaty, you will get splashed, you will have a lot of fun. We work hard together so that we can race strong and be proud of our efforts. Do expect to get a good workout with some impressive beasts on the boat, but most importantly, we do all this in a non-judgmental and welcoming environment. All fitness levels are welcome.

Social Stuff
The team also comes together at social events that are organized throughout the year (long bike rides, bowling, pub nights, pot lucks, winter ski retreats and end-of-year banquets).
Come try our club out, we welcome new members at all times of the year. No prior experience necessary! For more information on our team or the next practice, check us out on www.boston1.org, or email us if you have questions at boston1.dboat@gmail.com.
1 crew, 1 family, 1 goal!

Admin Stuff
In the event of inclement weather, announcements will be made through the comments area of each meetup event, also via slack.

Boston 1 Dragon Boat Practice Session (Sat)

Needs a location

Interested in dragon boating?
Join Boston 1 on the water! No prior experience necessary... we'll teach you everything you need to know.

Trial sessions are $20 for your first 2 sessions, paddle and life vest included. Payments are accepted with Venmo (@boston1dboat), cash, or check. Please fill out our e-waiver HERE prior your first session!

Paddling on a dragon boat is a great way to stay in shape, meet new people, and enjoy the summer.

We meet Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:45 PM, and Saturdays at 8:45am. Meeting point is at the Fort Point Pier (on the Gillette side of Fort Point Channel)

What do I need to bring to training?
All necessary equipment will be provided. You don’t need to bring anything except for water, sunscreen, some sort of sun protection (e.g. sunglasses, hat, etc.), and a readiness for a great outdoor workout!

What should I wear to training?
We paddle rain or shine, so dress for the weather and be prepared to get wet. Wear comfortable workout clothing (synthetic fibers that dry quickly) and footwear that you don't mind getting wet such as flip flops or sandals. Going bare foot is also an option.

We discourage jeans, anything cotton, regular shoes and socks as they can get soaked.

Is there a place to store personal items during training?
We will have a locked storage shed with room on the ground to place bags. In the event the shed is unavailable, please plan ahead or coordinate with other teammates to store your belongings in vehicles or other safe areas.

If you have any questions, send us an email at [masked], or DM us on Facebook/Instagram.
