Monday Water training
Interested in dragon boating? Join Boston 1 on the water! No prior experience necessary... we'll teach you everything you need to know. Paddling on a dragon boat is a great way to stay in shape, meet new people, and enjoy the summer. We meet at 5:45pm on the grassy patch outside the Congress St Smith & Wollensky. If you miss us, head down the Atlantic Wharf dock facing the Boston Tea Party Ship Museum. For those new to the sport, the first two training sessions is only $10. Please sign our eWaiver ( before joining us. What do I need to bring to training? We provide all equipment (paddle and life vest/pfd). You don’t need to bring anything except for water, sunscreen, some sort of sun protection (e.g. sunglasses, hat, etc.), and a readiness for a great outdoor workout! What should I wear to training? We paddle rain or shine, so dress for the weather and be prepared to get wet. Wear comfortable workout clothing (synthetic fibers that dry quickly) and footwear that you don't mind getting wet such as flip flops or sandals. Going bare foot is also an option. We discourage jeans, anything cotton, regular shoes and socks as they can get soaked. Is there a place to store personal items during training? There is a locker in the parking lot of 290 Congress St where you can place your belongings during training. However space is limited, therefore please be considerate and don’t bring too much stuff. Where can I park? Channelside Parking at 284 A Street. Enter at 29-41 Necco Street, off Melcher Street. If you have any other questions, send a message to [masked]. Check out our website ( for more information about the team!

What we're about

Boston 1 is a non-profit dragon boat club in Boston. We are always looking for people to join season round!

We're a crew of fun young international people who are young professionals and students who all share a love for paddling. Boston 1 is a team that balances a fun social atmosphere with a competitive edge - a family away from home where we encourage friendship, support and physical fitness.

We are proudly sponsored by Cedar Chiropractic & Sports

During the summer season we paddle together 3 times a week (Mon/Wed 6-8pm, Sat 11:30am-1:30pm) at Fort Point Channel. We also race in regional dragon boat race festivals about 6 times over the course of the summer. We treat race events like road trips: driving with friends around the North-east, paddling competitively, having adventures, eating, drinking and getting to know each other better!

In the winter off-season we continue to workout together. Our strength coach has designed a winter weight lifting program and you get personal training from the coaches!

New paddler 2-class pack for $10 ( All other paddlers paddle unlimited under the $125 annual membership fee ( New paddlers who decide to join get a $10 deduction from membership! Annual membership covers the start of the 2017 water season.

What to expect

Dragon boat is an athletic sport. We aren't going for a lazy sight-seeing paddle. Your heart will be pumping, you will get sweaty, you will get splashed, you will have a lot of fun. We work hard together so that we can race strong and be proud of our efforts. Do expect to get a good workout with some impressive beasts on the boat, but most importantly, we do all this in a non-judgemental and welcoming environment. All fitness levels are welcome.

Social Stuff

The team also comes together at social events that are organized throughout the year (long bike rides, bowling, pub nights, pot lucks, winter ski retreats and end-of-year banquets).

Come try our club out, we welcome new members at all times of the year. No prior experience necessary! For more information on our team or the next practice, check us out on , or email us if you have questions

1 crew, 1 family, 1 goal!

Attendance and Racing expectations

We understand your busy lives and many responsibilities. We encourage our paddlers to attend as many practices as possible, especially around race meets. Attending race meets are not a requirement...but racing is a ton of fun and very addictive.
