First Talk: Andre Mesarovic will be speaking about an exciting new open source project ML Flow https://mlflow.org/
Andre is an RSA at Databricks. He hitchhiked across the Sahara Desert at 18.
Second Talk: Distributed AI for Earth: Using Microsoft’s Open-Source Spark Ecosystem for Wildlife Conservation
Speaker: Mark Hamilton, Software Engineer, Microsoft Applied AI Team
Bio: Mark Hamilton is a Software Engineer and researcher who leads Microsoft Machine Learning for Apache Spark, an open source distributed machine learning library. At Microsoft, Mark specializes in distributed systems and its applications to wildlife ecology, text analysis, and object detection. He also leads research efforts centered around developing new techniques in deep learning theory. Mark previously attended Yale University where he studied Mathematics and Physics.
Abstract: Microsoft has recently released a new open source framework for distributed machine learning called Microsoft ML for Apache Spark (MMLSpark). This framework extends Spark and SparkML to support deep learning, GPU enabled gradient boosted machines, low latency model serving, and distributed microservices. We will explore this framework and the Spark ecosystem through several research efforts in wildlife conservation, poacher detection, and deep domain adaptation. We will show how MMLSpark enables production quality applications using only a handful of lines of code.
