How To Fight and Prevent Burnout
Details
For our first Meetup of 2017, we’ll be featuring a talk by Alicia Sedlock!
The tech community puts a warped badge of honor around burnout. It's often seen as an indicator of success and working hard, when it's actually harming the growth of our developer communities and teams.
This talk will cover:
• Why burnout culture takes away from inclusion
• Identifying burnout within yourself and your teams
• How to grow your technical skills without compromising your personal life
• How to bring a healthy work and growth ethic to your team, regardless if you’re the newcomer or the tech lead
A bit about our presenter:
Alicia (@aliciability (https://twitter.com/aliciability)) is a front-end and user experience developer that wants everything to be easy, from user interfaces to understanding a code base. She's also an Arduino tinkerer and volunteers for Girl Develop It’s Boston (https://www.girldevelopit.com/chapters/boston) chapter. Outside of her work, she's usually talking about anime, tacos, or getting mad about video game interfaces.
General details:
Doors open at 6:30pm for food and drinks. The talk will start at 7pm.
Unfortunately, while Vermonster’s old brick building has a lot of charm, it also has a lot of stairs, and does not have an elevator. We wish that wasn’t the case.
We will be live streaming the event and afterwards it will be posted to our Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB-Q0Af4p8A23QTnUxg-fgg). Please check this page for the link on the date of the event.
