This month we're pleased to host a panel discussing the topic of ethics in AI, in collaboration with PyData https://www.meetup.com/PyData-Boston-Cambridge/events/272855887/

Ethics in AI is an important topic for all data scientists to consider. With the increasing use of algorithms to make decisions across contexts, there have been reports of these algorithms exhibiting racial (https://www.propublica.org/article/machine-bias-risk-assessments-in-criminal-sentencing) and gender (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-amazon-com-jobs-automation-insight/amazon-scraps-secret-ai-recruiting-tool-that-showed-bias-against-women-idUSKCN1MK08G) bias. In response, there has been a robust discussion of the ethical use and design of these algorithms.

We will host several important voices in the discussion who will help us understand the concept of "ethical AI" and how we can make it part of our practice.
