What should the EHR become: Platforms, Workflows, and FHIR

Over the last decade, electronic health record (EHR) systems have been central to the digital transformation of the healthcare industry. However, these systems have introduced significant challenges including cost, additional work for clinicians at the point of care, and difficulties sharing data. Meanwhile the healthcare landscape is changing in ways that are greatly increasing demand for digital health data including genomic analysis, evidence-based medicine at the point of care, virtual care delivery, and healthcare economics like value-based care.
Central to this story is a new healthcare movement around a technology standard called FHIR. This movement started with an idea to modernize how health data is exchanged and has grown into a new ecosystem of innovations, complementing and even in some cases supplementing the EHR to improve the clinical and patient experience.
We’ll begin this event with a talk by Dr. Adam Landman, Chief Information and Digital Officer at Brigham Health followed by a panel of experts on what the EHR could become for patients, providers, and payers.
