What we’re about
This is the Meetup group associated with the Boston Figurative Art Center, headquartered at the Vernon Street Studios in Somerville. You can join this Meetup group online for free, and get information about what we're doing, and when. If you would like to attend a session with us, please RSVP here and pay at the http://bostonfigurecenter.org. We are a group dedicated to promoting figurative art in the Boston Area, and to providing a community where figurative artists can meet, talk, and work together. We would like to help create a context for figure artists that we feel is lacking in the area, and by coming together foster a more visible figurative art presence in Boston.
Please visit our website at http://bostonfigurecenter.org for more information.
Also, before attending a session for the first time, please read our Studio Etiquette page on the website.

Please note that you need to register for this class on our website at the Boston Figurative Art Center. We use Meetup for outreach only, and we can only keep count of the registrations if everyone registers on our website- thanks for your understanding!
This class will open a window on the classic technique of using black and white charcoal in combination with toned paper. Kev Fang, a graduate of Art Center College of Design and now working for Hasbro, will demonstrate how he creates beautiful sheets of figure studies using this technique. Students will learn about simple anatomy tricks, tips for using the media most economically and effectively, and page composition. The goal of the class is for each student to go home with some beautifully composed pages of figure studies worthy of framing.
