Adobe Night: Cross-Platform Apps with PhoneGap & A Better Web

We have two talks this month - the first from Christophe Coenraets on PhoneGap and the second from Alan Greenblatt on the future of the Web and tools for development. Both Christophe and Alan are technical Evangelist's at Adobe. Details for both talks below.

Brightcove will again be providing the accommodations, and Liberty Concepts the Pizza. In addition, Jana will be sponsoring some post-meetup beers at a bar TBD.

Christophe Coenraets: Cross-Platform Mobile Apps with PhoneGap, HTML, Javascript, CSS

HTML has emerged as a powerful alternative to "native" to enable cross-platform mobile application development. But how do you build large, complex, and native-like mobile apps using HTML, JavaScript and CSS? This session covers modern strategies to build large JavaScript projects using JavaScript MVC frameworks, and how to use PhoneGap to leverage the native capabilities of your device in JavaScript and to package your HTML application as a native app for distribution through the different app stores.

Christophe Coenraets is a technical evangelist for Adobe where he focuses on rich Internet applications and enterprise integration.

Alan Greenblatt: A Better Web & Awesome Tools

Adobe has been working extremely hard to push the boundaries of what can be done with HTML, CSS & JavaScript.  Ranging from new web standards and browser features, to enhanced and new design and development tools for web and mobile development, there’s a lot going on at Adobe.

Alan brings more than 25 years of software development, technical management expertise and entrepreneurship to his role as Senior Technical Evangelist at Adobe.  Over the years Alan has contributed significantly to the development of advanced media technologies offered by both Sun Microsystems and Microsoft.

The presentations were great. Very relevant and informative. I left with a lot of ideas of how to use PhoneGap and Adobe Shadow in my development.

So glad I finally made it to a meetup, i've been trying to for the past few months to clear my schedule for it! And serendipitously walking away with a free copy of the CS6 Web suite was pretty damn cool too! Many thanks to Christophe and Alan for some great presentations despite the PA system dying. Looking forward to next month...

Is there any parking arrangement for the meetup?

    Hi Ann,

The meetup begins at 7:00. Usually the talks begin at 7:30, but I would recommend getting here around or shortly after 7 to get settled and also to make sure that you get quickly through the building security check-in at 290 Congress. All attendees who RSVP'd are in the visitor system, so checkin should be as simple as showing ID and getting your badge (all badges for people who RSVP'd have been pre-printed.)

Liberty Concepts is providing pizza. Yay! :)
