November's meetup coincides with the SPLASH conference running all week, so it is likely that some conference attendees will also be attending our meeting. No tickets/invitation is necessary to attend the meetup, however.
For the primary activity, we'll have Paul Chiusano speaking about the Unison language he and others are building.
Unison is a purely functional language currently in active development. It's inspired by a key idea: a single program ought to be able to describe whole distributed systems, including their provisioning, deployment, scaling, and orchestration. In the talk we'll give an introduction to Unison, discuss the current state of its development, and hopefully write some Unison code together!
The meetup will be held at the Northeastern college of computer and information science, West Village building H, room 108.
Unlike our usual meetup, dinner will not be provided, so please plan on eating beforehand.
