Pelagic Sailing Club September Meeting - Ali Wisch - Life as a liveaboard!
Details
Ahoy there,
Join the Pelagic Sailing Club on Thursday, September 17, as Ali will share the reality of what it is like to liveaboard "Heaven".
Ali Wisch is a writer/editor, photographer, sailor, and veteran liveaboard, currently living on her sailboat “Heaven” with her cat, Lily, in Boston Harbor. When not sailing she can often be found with a sander and a can of varnish doing boat work for her business, “Ali on a Boat.” Ali is also known for her work as managing editor of Sail Magazine, Multihull Sailor and New Boats and Gear, and obsessively working on her boat. Her life on the water also includes zipping around the harbor in her dinghy, catching lines on the dock, and crewing on boat deliveries between the northeast and the BVI.
With numerous certifications from ASA and the Offshore Sailing School, international yacht deliveries and extensive east coast cruising, she has years of experience with life and leisure on the water and great respect for the ocean.
From experiences rebuilding her last boat, “Coast,” a near-death Carbon Monoxide scare, to sailing with dolphins and snorkeling at the beautiful Buck Island off of St. Croix, she is delighted to be able to contribute her extensive knowledge on the topics of living aboard, offshore sailing, safety and survival at sea, and to advocate for women’s sailing. She is also grateful for the opportunities that sailing has afforded her and to be able to share her stories to give others a sense of the sailing life!
The presentation will begin at 7 pm but you're welcome to join in at 6:30 for a half-hour of socializing. To register for this free event, please message Chris Shea and he will send you a Zoom link to the meeting on September 17.
The purpose of the Pelagic Sailing Club (PSC) is to bring together competent skippers and crew for their mutual sailing benefit. The Club's mission is to promote safety on the water, seamanship sailing and good fellowship. This club is an excellent way to meet other sailors, to improve your sailing skills and most especially, to sail.
