We know you're missing out on getting together with your SWUG friends, and that webinars and "virtual meetings" can only go so far. In response to this, SWUG leaders across the country are going to attempt a brand new type of meeting, one that's run by YOU! User Group members who participate will get have the opportunity to present their current SolidWorks problems and roadblocks to a panel of experts - plus the wider community - who will help resolve the issues, impart their wisdom, and even throw in a few tips and tricks along the way.
This unscripted meeting is uniquely suited for the virtual landscape, as attendees will be able to present their specific issues on-screen to a large audience, and still interact with their colleagues.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. Send an email to SWUGN.Chumps@gmail.com including the following information:
o Include “STC-SWUG” in the subject line!
    o Your Name
o A brief description of your problem
o Preferred method of demonstration (video chat, screen share, presented by the panel). Some problems may be better suited to one method or another, use your best judgment when choosing.
  • Video Chat: During the meeting, the panel will give you some time to describe your problem via live video chat
  • Live Demo: During the meeting, you’ll be able to briefly share your screen with the entire audience, and be able to present your issue in your own way.
  • Panel Presentation: Camera shy? Don’t worry, you can also emailed a detailed description of the problem to the panel in advance using text and images, and/or a short video, using screen recording tools (try WIN+G or any of these tools: https://www.techradar.com/news/the-best-free-screen-recorder).
(Here’s an example: https://youtu.be/PsmkBXX2Ocg). In this case, the panel will present your question to the audience, and you won’t be required to appear on camera if you don’t want to. If sending your description in advance, provide all relevant information so the panel can understand and replicate the problem, including video files or YouTube links.

o Note: If the issue appears to be file-specific, include any SOLIDWORKS files that can be used to replicate the problem. Use Pack & Go or Copy Tree to make sure all files are included.

  1. Once the meeting begins, sign in with the same name you used in your email, so we know you’re present.

  2. Meeting admins will let you know when it’s almost your turn to present, so be ready to present when it's your turn! Have all files open and ready to go if you’re screen sharing. After presenting your problem, the panel will do their best to help you resolve it within ~5 minutes. If the Chumps get Stumped, the wider audience is welcome to chime in!

  3. The panel will get through as many questions as possible during our meeting time, and we can’t guarantee that everyone’s problems will be addressed, but we’ll do our best, and we’ll follow up with an email addressing any questions we can’t get to during the meeting!
