What we're about

This group is meant to provide an opportunity for social networking for students and young professionals. The group is mainly directed towards Muslims but anyone is welcome to join. The events organized are mostly social in nature but in keeping with Islamic values, such as being alcohol-free events. Take a look at a list of our past events to see the kinds of things we do.

For college students, you can meet people outside of your campus Muslim Students Association through this group in a relaxed, social setting.
For young professionals, this is a way to meet other Muslims in the area in a fun setting.

We hope that through this group, people will:

1) Enjoy fun events

2) Make new friends

3) Possibly meet a potential spouse in a safe, friendly environment. For total clarification, we are not a "singles" group and don't want to be. Everyone is welcome here. And we will not be organizing any "singles" events. But we do hope to provide a nice environment for people to mingle given the lack of such opportunities in the area.

Please join us for some awesome fun events!

Finally, some basic policies:

- We expect all members to be respectful to each other. We will not tolerate any kind of harassment by individuals towards other members, whether in person or virtually. If anyone has any concerns, please contact one of the organizers and we will work with you to resolve the situation discreetly and immediately including removing the offending party from the group per Meetup rules.

Visit Hammond Castle: POLL
Needs a date and time

Needs a location

Hi folks, this is a poll to see how many people would be interested in this outing. This isn't an event listing. We'll organize it sometime over the summer. But at least 20 people are needed for a guided tour. Please RSVP yes if you'd be interested in going. Tickets will be $10 each for the tour. If enough people are interested, I shall make arrangements for the tour. Info about Hammond Castle: "ohn Hays Hammond, Jr. built his medieval-style castle between the years 1926 and 1929 to serve both as his home and as a backdrop for his collection of Roman, medieval, and Renaissance artifacts. The castle was constructed as a wedding present for his wife Irene Fenton Hammond to prove how much he cared for her. In addition, the building housed the Hammond Research Corporation, from which Dr. Hammond produced over 400 patents and the ideas for over 800 inventions. Second only to Thomas Alva Edison in number of patents, John Hammond was one of America's premier inventors. His most important work was the development of remote control via radio waves, which earned him the title, "The Father of Remote Control." Visitors to Hammond Castle Museum are welcome to explore the castle on a tour of many rooms (map supplied) including the great hall, indoor courtyard, Renaissance dining room, two guest bedrooms, the inventions exhibit room, the library, the War room, the kitchens, the Natalie Hays Hammond exhibit room, servants quarters, as well as several smaller rooms and passage ways including a secret passageway. We suggest that you start your tour in our AV theater where you can view a short film on the life and times of the Hammonds. Visitors may also enjoy the beauty of the castle grounds and a view of the Atlantic shore line while strolling through our gardens or sitting on a bench taking in that view.." http://www.hammondcastle.org/common/index.php?com=HAMM&div=AA&nav=AA&page=A91
