Presentation #1: Intro to ggstatsplot: R Package for `ggplot2` Based Plots with Statistical Details (Indrajeet Patil)
Presentation #2: Data Science and R in Health Care (Iyue Sung)
Abstract:
Presentation #1: `ggstatsplot` (https://github.com/IndrajeetPatil/ggstatsplot/blob/master/README.md) is an extension of `ggplot2` package for creating graphics with details from statistical tests included in the plots themselves and targeted primarily at behavioral sciences community to provide a one-line code to produce information-rich plots. In a typical exploratory data analysis workflow, data visualization and statistical modeling are two different phases: visualization informs modeling, and modeling in its turn can suggest a different visualization method, and so on and so forth. The central idea of `ggstatsplot` is simple: combine these two phases into one in the form of graphics with statistical details, which makes data exploration simpler and faster. In this talk, I will give a quick demo of this package to explain the underlying principles guiding its development, a quick overview of the current functionality, and its limitations and future scope.
Presentation #2: Data Science and R in Health Care" presentation. Topics covered will include: Types of health care data, Data science and technology infrastructure at Press Ganey (R, SQL), Team and skill development, Applications, Statistics and analysis - including ML, & Reporting and production
Bio:
Speaker #1. Indrajeet Patil is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University. Trained in Physics (B.Sc./M.Sc.), his current research focuses on the psychological and neural basis of human moral behavior and he utilizes several advanced data analytic techniques (such as reinforcement learning, text mining, meta-analysis, etc.) to answer interesting questions about why human morality is the way it is. In his spare time, he loves to work on developing R packages, watch movies, dance to Bollywood movie songs, and obsess about cats.
Speaker #2. Iyue Sung is Vice President, Enterprise Analytics, at Press Ganey, a healthcare data, consulting, and technology company. He manages a team of data scientists and business analysts who uncover patterns related to patient experience, workforce engagement, nursing quality and clinical quality. Iyue's prior experience includes electronic health records company Athenahealth and Oliver Wyman, a strategy consulting firm. He holds a PhD in Statistics from The Ohio State University and a BA in Mathematics and Philosophy (Double Major) from Boston University.
