Boston "Onyxbirds" Travel Group Pages

This group was formed as a networking tool for people from the african diaspora who are interested in travel for the purposes of cultural and social education. The hope is that members will coordinate trips to places that are off the beaten path; exchanging knowledge about our varied cultures with the people from the varied cultures that our members will visit. In our own small way, we may be able to influence positive perceptions about black people in places where black people are rarely seen. An additional goal will be to nurture Onyxbird young (dare we call them "chicks") with the bits of knowledge that we collect along the way.

“Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends." - Maya Angelou
