Abstract:
An elliptic curve is a type of mathematical curve on a plane. In this talk, we describe what an elliptic curve is and why it is important in public key cryptography. We explain the classical elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) that is widely used today, as well as the modern post-quantum isogeny-based cryptography, which is cryptography based on maps between elliptic curves that is conjectured to be resistant to quantum computing attacks.

Speaker Bio:
Emily Stamm is a security researcher at Allstate specializing in cryptography. She is also the Vice President of CyberSecurity Non-Profit (CSNP.org), an organization that promotes security education through hosting free events featuring networking, presentations, hackathons, panel discussions, and technical workshops. Emily graduated from Vassar College with a degree in mathematics where she published several papers on number theory research. She is passionate about cryptography, quantum computing, machine learning, and mathematics.

Abstract:
We are going to cover the state of the art in Encrypted Search and end-to-end encrypted databases. We will go over the different cryptographic primitives in the area, with a particular emphasis on: performance, security guarantee, and readiness towards a real-world deployment.

Speaker Bio:
Tarik is co-founder and CTO of Aroki Systems and a visiting scientist at Brown University. His research includes major advances in encrypted search that have appeared at the top cryptography conferences, including IACR CRYPTO, Eurocrypt, Asiacrypt and Real-World Crypto.
