Our last Meetup at Fox! Back to Robbins on the 18-th. That said, attendance at Fox has been VERY light. Next year, we'll go on hiatus, but this year, with this last remaining Fox session, I *think* I'll adopt the posture of the Ramsbottoms' deciding to ford the river rather than pay the ferry fare in in The Runcorn Ferry
The further they paddled, the deeper it got
But they wouldn't give in, once begun
In the spirit that's made Lancashire what she is
They'd sooner be drownded than donebut I may fold and cancel. So, check this space!
Following the success of UitA #223, UitA will continue as a hybrid Meetup with in-person and online components as long as it continues to prove popular.
I have not yet found a way to list a Meetup as both in-person and online, so I will be listing it twice, once in person and once online. Please register for the appropriate component.
We usually work out of a fixed songbook.

For other details about the way the Meetup is run, see the in-person component. These details are specifically about the online version.
At a different Meetup back before UitA #223, I had announced that UitA had returned to being an in-person Meetup. Betty from Kentucky asked if it were possible to attend online. My first thought was that it wasn't feasible if only because it was all I could do to run the in-person Meetup. But, after thinking about it and realizing I had the necessary equipment, I thought I'd give it a try as long as it didn't take away from the in-person Meetup.
As of now, there is now an online component to UitA for those unable to attend in person who would like to play along. It is limited in scope. A Zoom link will allow a participant to act like a fly one the wall, able to observe but not interact with the room.
* A laptop will be placed on on one of the chairs in the circle. Those participating in person will see a grid of online participants. Online participants will see whatever portion of the circle that the camera sees.
* There will be a Waiting Room.
* I am planning to appoint a co-host from those who arrive before the start of the session. The co-host will be able to admit late comers and, as a special bonus, eject anyone who joins for the purpose of disrupting the Meetup!
* Online participants will be muted in the live session. However, they will be able to interact with each other and talk among themselves.
* After the first song, I'll check in to be sure everything is running smoothly.
UitA is an in-person meetup for local players. The online component is NOT meant to be a substitute unless the Library is closed. If very few register for the in-person Meetup, the Meetup will not be held.

Free to participate in our deep dive into using the correct fingering and fingerpicking technique to produce the best sound from our low G ukulele to play Pachelbel's Canon in C, arranged by Anne Ku.
Although not necessary, it's highly advised that you have the ukulele arrangement in advance so that you can follow and prepare for the workshop. The sheet music will mostly NOT be shared on screen to allow close-up of the fingers and ukulele.
Check the new blog post for the Zoom registration link and other details.
Pachelbel wrote the Canon with a Gigue but the latter is rarely performed.

Testimonials from Pachebel Birthday Workshop
If at all possible please do take a class with Anne. She is an outstanding professional musician who can bring the work down to any level.I found this workshop very helpful in introducing the composer Johann Pachelbel and the chord progression he used in his Canon in D. It gives ukulele chords and progresses to playing the melody line, chords, and arpeggios with various techniques.
This is a terrific introduction to ensemble playing of a classical piece. Though we were on Zoom and couldn’t actually play together, one could easily imagine how this will come together when we have a chance to gather. Anne’s arrangement is brilliant because she has provided parts for everyone, from beginner to virtuoso. And because it’s a canon, the chord progression is repeated over and over and it’s almost impossible to get it “wrong.” If you lose your place, it’s easy to jump back in.
