Delivering The Boston Volunteer's May email. Discover what's new...

Hi, How are you?

I decided to deliver a quick email recapitulating what's new.

We celebrated sixteen Meetups in May. In less than 1 1/2 years more than two thousand "Boston Volunteers" joined our group!
We have grown incredibly fast and non-profits are contacting me almost every day. We have far shattered even my most optimistic expectations and grown into the 6th largest Meetup in Boston (out of a total of sixteen hundred and forty nine groups!)! Two months ago we were the eight largest. Last month the 7th largest and this month we are the 6th largest! We have done pretty well and helped an enormous amount of people. (See the bottom of the page for an example of an individual person whom we helped).

This month I am going to be incredibly busy between working, leading eventos y will be traveling the second half of the month. Please excuse me if it takes me a couple days to reply to your email.

I am actively seeking more volunteers to join our groups The Leadership Team. You would be helping our volunteer group (and it could look great on your resume). Seeking one or two people with experience. Who else is interested? Please email me directly and tell me a little bit about yourself, your previous experience, and how you will help grow our group. :)

Question? I would also like too get our volunteer group written up in local newspapers, and presenting on radio/t.v. stations. Do you know anyone whom can help with this? Can you email me?

We are celebrating a variety of events in the next few days. I expect them all to fill up. Discover what...

(Not an event. Just one of my favorite ways to help)

2. http://www.bostonvolu...
(be outdoors! New event. Few seats left!)

3. http://www.bostonvolu...
(Popular event. Thank you for leading Rick! :))

(Social networking. Only 1 seat left. Discover who else...)

See you soon!,

P.S. Do you have Facebook? Many of our group members have joined our groups Facebook page. I already joined.
Discover who else: http://www.facebook.c... (great way to connect with other members and let your friends know about your altruistic experiences)

P.P.S. Do you play tennis? I initiated The Brookline Tennis Meetup. We meet once a week. Rapidly growing. Every game fills up fast. Many "Boston Volunteers" are already members. Who else likes to play:

P.P.P.S. Do you lead your own group/organization? Is there a way that we can work together? Contemplate it and email me. Totally up to you. Just an opportunity.

Quick story of gratefulness. What if...

When I moved to Boston it was very difficult to find a volunteer opportunity that fit my schedule. We (The Boston Volunteer's) could have easily not existed. What if it was easy to find a volunteer opportunity? What if at our first meeting so many people didn't celebrate and offer help? What if Monica and Rick and Greg, Dave, Bill, and Doreen (and many others) didn't seek out volunteer opportunities and help us grow (especially when we were brand new and I didn't know what I was doing. Thank you very much!) :)
What if Chris didn't serve as such a great role model. What if you, The Boston Volunteers didn't love helping your community? If any one of those things happened we might not exist today.

We are very fortunate that those "what if's" didn't happen. We are even more fortunate that volunteering is a very Bostonian thing to do . Thank you very much for everyone who has helped build our group. Thank you even more to those many whom, through passion, encouragement and dilligence prevented those "what if's" from happening. You are making your community a better place. I thank you. :)
