This group is for anyone interested in learning about the divorce process. The focus is very much on the logistics with tons of practical information and additional resources. We meet weekly covering a different topic each week on a four week rotation. Each topic will be a standalone so you can join at any time.

Planned topics will likely include exploring your legal options – what’s the difference between traditional, collaborative, mediation and doing it yourself (“pro se”); mediation - what it is and is not, how it applies to divorce and does it work?; financial preparations – what you’ll need to know for the legal process and how to go about gathering the information; housing options – is staying in the marital home smart and what are the alternatives; parenting plans – what these are, why you need one and how to create your own.

Who should join

-  Anyone considering divorce who’s looking to learn more information

-  Anyone in the early stages of getting divorce

It could be you’re considering divorce and trying to weigh your options. It could be your spouse has just surprised you with divorce papers and you’re in a panic, overwhelmed by what to do next.

The group is open to men and women and couples provided partners are able to be respectful and civil to one another.

Why join

-  Learn how the divorce process works

-  Learn the vocabulary of divorce

-  Get key resources

-  Connect with other similarly situated people

These meetings are not legal advice and are not a substitute for working with an attorney. By attending these meetups you will be more informed about the divorce process and that will help you work more effectively with your attorney, other professional advisers and hopefully, your spouse.

Note: This group is not a recovery group. We likely will touch on emotional issues - it's impossible not to - but we will not be specifically covering these areas.

Other Resources

If you are in the early stages of divorce and looking for practical and logistical information on getting divorced, please consider joining my Divorce 911 meetup group.

If you are ready to start the work of healing from your divorce, then you may want to consider the Beyond Divorce Recovery and Empowerment program. It's a powerful 10-week, small group program for men and women.

Who I am

I am a divorce coach and mediator based in the Boulder area. I help men and women end their relationship, even if it isn’t their choice, with respect and dignity so they don’t feel they’re going through divorce alone, so they’ll understand the process and their options so they can be confident in the decisions they’re making.
