Fatbike Monday
Details
New ride for 2020, Fatbike Mondays. We will ride in the high country on trails from Nederland to Peaceful Valley. Obviously lights and fatbikes are required. This is an all level ride, 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Dress for cold temperatures and high winds, which are common.
This week will start at the Brainard Lake Recretion Area on the Waldrop trail, exact route to be determined.
Snow riding is non-technical as all bumps are buried, it is strenuous but awesome. Trail conditions are dependent on snowshoers packing the trail, so the only weather consideration is lots of fresh unpacked snow.
You can rent fat bikes at University Bikes in Boulder or Tin Shed in Ned.
Please consider carpooling from Boulder, driving up Lee Hill to Lefthand is the quickest route from Boulder.
Equipment:
- True fatbike - at least 3.8" tires, 4.5"+ recommended
- Night riding lights - recommended at least 2 800+ lumen lights: one on handle bar and a second helmet light.
