Sandra Jonas and Jill Tappert from Sandra Jonas Publishing will share the publishing and marketing techniques they used to make The Pale-Faced Lie, a memoir by David Crowe, a success.

Ad campaigns, a strong presence on social media, reviews, author interviews, local brick-and-mortar store placements, and an attention-grabbing story all contributed.

The Pale-Faced Lie was released in 2019 and has already sold over 125,000 copies, has an international book deal, and is being optioned for film. This is many author's and publisher's dream publishing outcome.

Sandra Jonas Publishing House was founded in 2013. Working with writers for more than a decade, editor and designer Sandra Jonas was eager to offer them a path to publication and national distribution that had been out of their reach. She has assembled a talented team of professionals who share her desire to partner with authors to produce distinctive books that compete well in the marketplace.

Sandra began her career as an electrical engineer in aerospace, developing software and writing proposals. Several years later, she found her true calling when she transitioned into copyediting and designing books. She brings a meticulous attention to detail, sharp organizational skills, and a can-do attitude to every project she undertakes.

Jill Tappert is a freelance editor and media specialist with a keen eye for detail and a passion for precision. A retired attorney, Jill has edited, proofread, and promoted best-selling and award-winning memoirs, novels, and nonfiction books through her company Rose Editing.

Here's what Crowe's memoir is about: Growing up on the Navajo Indian Reservation, David Crow and his siblings idolized their dad, a self-taught Cherokee who loved to tell his children about his World War II feats. But as time passed, David discovered the other side of Thurston Crow, the ex-con with his own code of ethics that justified cruelty, violence, lies—even murder. Intimidating David with beatings, Thurston coerced his son into doing his criminal bidding. David’s mom, too mentally ill to care for her children, couldn’t protect him.

Through sheer determination, David managed to get into college and achieve professional success. When he finally found the courage to refuse his father’s criminal demands, he unwittingly triggered a plot of revenge that would force him into a deadly showdown with Thurston Crow. David would have only twenty-four hours to outsmart his father—the brilliant, psychotic man who bragged that the three years he spent in the notorious San Quentin State Prison had been the easiest time of his life.

Raw and palpable, The Pale-Faced Lie is an inspirational story about the power of forgiveness and the strength of the human spirit.

This event is free and open to the public.
