Shawn Cannon, Empowering Agile Data Architects; Osei May, PASS 2018 Highlights
MAIN PRESENTATION (60 min) All too often data architects are brought in to address technical debt after a project has begun to show signs of failure. We’ll look at ways for a data architect to be a proactive, contributing member of an Agile team working towards a common goal using the combination of validDB and erwin DM. Shawn has spent the last twenty years developing the platform that powers and has built hundreds of database centric applications on the platform across a wide range of domains for organizations large and small. ------------------------------------- FIRST PRESENTATION (30 min) In this brief session we'll be covering some of the major highlights from the SQL PASS conference that occurred in November 2018 in Seattle, WA. Topics will include features from the roadmap for SQL Server 2019, Azure, and Power BI. There are amazing things in store. Osei does BI and Big Data Engineering with Azure, Analysis Services and Power BI. He likes building analytical pipelines to provide new insights. Previously, he developed reporting for mortgage services and a local university and he's vice president of Boulder SQL. ------------------------------------------------------------ 5:30 Pizza and networking 6:00 Meeting starts, introductions, announcements 6:15 First Presentation 6:45 Main Presentation 7:45 Wrap-up, Q/A, address technical issue of the group 8 - 8:15 Meeting ends

    What we're about

Welcome! We are a community of professionals interested in Microsoft SQL Server database products. Monthly meetings are usually the 3rd Wednesday at 5:30pm. (On occasion they are on Tue or Thu at 5:30)

We cover all topics related to SQL Server, including T-SQL, Production DBA, SQL Development, Business Intelligence, OLAP, SSIS, SSRS, and Service Broker.

This group is for you if you want to network and meet other SQL professionals whose abilities are between beginner to well-seasoned, ask SQL-related questions to other members, learn about job opportunities, and basically give your career a boost.

No cost to attend monthly meetings!

However, please consider making a donation ( to defray costs.

This is NOT a group for recruiters - unless you are interested in being a sponsor. This means helping with some of the basic costs for running this group. In return you meet some great people who are passionate about their careers. Please contact me if you are interested in sponsoring in some capacity. Some possibilities: paying for appetizers/drinks at SQL Lunch events, paying for the annual SQL Holiday Networking Social, and paying for pizza at our monthly meetings. In return you are given a 2 minute spotlight to say what you want to the group, meet and chat with people before and after events, and hand out your business cards. THIS IS NOT A GROUP FOR POSTING JOBs - there are plenty of over venues for that. This is a technical group with the promise of being free from job postings.
