Dear Science Enthusiasts,

many of you have asked in the past if we are going to have English language Science Meetups. Previously we always declined, as we were confident that the best way for a Hungarian researcher to communicate her/his work to a (mostly) Hungarian crowd is to use her/his native language. And we still stand by that idea. Nevertheless, we have been listening to these complaints and looking for ways to satisfy your need for an English language Science Meetup in Budapest. Therefore we are proud to bring you the first ever spin-off event of our Meetup series, a "Budapest Science Meetup +" lecture.

It is our great pleasure to announce, that with support from the British Embassy Budapest and the Asimov Foundation, we will be hosting Anthony Hobley, the CEO of the Carbon Tracker Initiative (http://www.carbontracker.org/). Carbon Tracker is an independent financial think tank which provides in-depth analysis on the impact of climate change on capital markets and investment in fossil fuels, mapping risk, opportunity and the route to a low carbon future. They are perhaps the best known advocates of the idea of the "carbon bubble", a previously overlooked bubble in the valuation of companies dependent on fossil-fuel-based energy production, because the true costs of carbon dioxide in intensifying global warming are not yet taken into account in a company's stock market valuation.
