5e Campaign for Brandon Area Gamers - Adventures in Bard’s Gate

Details

• What we'll do
This will be the first ongoing campaign hosted by the Brandon Area Gamers (BAG) club. I’m excited to present this campaign to you, and I’m looking forward to exploring all the excitement that goes with a long-running game.
Along with this announcement, I was hoping to take some time to introduce myself and give you brief description of my ideas and expectations for the campaign. I also want to provide you a list of the sourcebooks and optional rules that I’ll be using.
My name is David, and I’ve been playing and running role-playing games since the first Dungeons and Dragons red box set in 1977. I have a tough time wrapping my mind around 40 years of role-playing off and on, but I wouldn’t change any of it. Recently, all my attention has been on running games. I’ve run games of just about every genre in more systems than I can count. I have experience in running one-shot adventures, short campaigns and long running campaigns to completion. I’m dedicated to running Adventures in Bard’s Gate to an epic conclusion, so if you decide to jump on-board it will be a nice, long haul.
I like to run a table with 4 to 6 players. The table on game night will be on a first come, first serve basis with some preferences going to consistent players. If you can make the commitment to consistently be there on game night, I’ll make sure that you get to play.
The campaign will be set in Frog God’s Games Lost Lands in a city called Bard’s Gate. This is a fully fleshed out campaign setting. The city itself is enormous, and we will spend quite a while exploring it together. As we near the start date of the campaign I’ll post a Bard’s Gate Player’s Guide to the BAG Facebook page. This will give you an idea of the tone of the game. Most of the campaign will be urban adventures.
The ‘core’ rulebooks of the campaigns will be The Player’s Handbook, The Dungeon Master’s Guide and Xanathar’s Guide to Everything. Players may create their characters using all the races, classes and subclasses found in those books. I plan to use most if not all the variant rules found in Xanathar’s Guide, including Racial Feats, Tool Proficiencies and Downtime Revisited. The variant rules from the PH and DMG that I want to use will be provided prior to Game Night. Since I’m a big fan of dynamic imitative I plan to use the Greyhawk Initiative System written by Mike Mearls.
I will use D&D Beyond to record keep for the campaign. All announcements for the campaign will be done through the BAG Facebook page. Please have access to D&D Beyond and Facebook if you plan to take part in this campaign.
We will start the campaign on January 6th 2018, with an all-important SESSION 0, where we will take the time to get to know one another, talk about the game and create characters. Do not bring your favorite characters. All characters for the campaign will be created at SESSION 0 and stored on D&D Beyond.
