We need 15-20 volunteers so bring a friend and PLEASE RSVP if you plan to attend and wear your Humanist or Appropriate Atheist T-Shirt(nothing derogatory please) if possible. See you there. Packing Location and Directions: We are located at 1855 West King St (520) in Cocoa. We are in an old car dealer building on the same property as Cocoa Hyundai and in between Cocoa Hyundai and Space Coast Honda. Our box truck is usually parked in front and across the top of the building it says "Quality Pre-Owned" with a “Children’s Hunger Project” banner on the top right corner of the building. Take the little drive on the west side back to the parking lot at the rear of the building and come in the west door. • Park in the lot behind our building. • Enter thru the southwest door marked “Volunteer Entrance” on it. This is the entrance closest to the parking lot. All other doors will be locked. • Dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes. • Please visit our website to access our Volunteer Agreement and Liability Release forms and bring them with you. https://thechildrenshungerproject.org/volunteers/ We will also have the forms available for you to complete upon arrival if you do not do it ahead of time. • For safety reasons, we cannot accommodate children under age 7.
- Freethought Book Club
Our next book club meeting will be at 1:30 PM on May 19 in the conference room by reference desk at Melbourne Library. The book is The Soul Fallacy: What Science Shows We Gain From Letting From Of Our Soul Beliefs by Julien Musolino. There are not any library copies. Here is a youtube video that covers some of the ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6vRNtK_Pws Googling the author or book will get you even more into. And there is a free pdf link for the book if you don't mind reading pdf files; just google- the soul fallacy pdf. The soul is a central part of religious and new age thought and this book does a good job of exploring this concept and also discussing the science of why it is problematic. The youtube video doesn't really get into the physics. So our topic will be the soul. Bring yourselves and any info you like to the discussion. Please RSVP and if you do and can't make it,please it cancel the RSVP so I know I have at least 3 people to hold the event. Thanks, Marilyn
