What we're about

For South Bay LA book lovers!

I was in a Drinking Club/Book Club in The Valley, but since moving to South Bay I have missed hanging out with friends who love to read books as much as I do. This club is for any women in in the South Bay LA area (El Segundo, Hawthorne, Lawndale, Redondo, Hermosa, Torrance, etc.) to meetup, drink some wine and chat about some new books!

This group is for women only (21+ because we enjoy drinking). This group is for those who enjoy reading NY Times Bestsellers, non-fiction self improvement books, classics, fiction, science fiction, dystopian novels, mystery who-done-its and more! We can meet at our homes, local breweries, wineries, cafes and restaurants.

We will try to incorporate food/appetizers and drinks with any of the meetup invites.

****** For safety reasons, only members with a current photo will be approved. This can be a picture of you but it cannot be a picture of a thing. Thanks!************

ATTENDANCE POLICY:

* Cancellations 2 hours before an event will be considered "no shows". If you can't make it, it would be courteous to send a message to the organizer before, even if it is 2 hours before the event.

*Make sure if you RSVP, you plan to attend. If you RSVP yes and don't show, you are taking a spot away from someone else who wants to attend.

*No Show/Late Cancel policy: If you make a habit out of no showing or late canceling, we may remove you from the group.

* We are a drinking group-- only 21 and over apply.

*Anyone who has disguised their intent (e.g. to solicit members, etc...) for their own purposes will be reported to their respective professional governing bodies, where applicable. ****

***Please no marketing or selling of "pyramid" companies and no religious or political discussions, unless it relates to the book at hand.

WAITLIST POLICY:

As the group has grown, we often have women on the waitlist. If the group is too large, book discussions are hindered and not everyone gets as much time to speak. Not to mention, finding venue space can also become tricky with a larger group. We have to cap how many women can attend a meet-up. There is a priority order on the waitlist:

Waitlistees will be prioritized in this order:

1. Paid members - I will try to push through as many paid members as I can. The Meetup fee goes to keep the Meetup account running. (Meetup charges $20/month per Meetup Group)

2. Attended previous event(s)

3. Order of being put on the wait list (first come, first serve)

De-Prioritization CAN happen if you are a "no-show" for events. Please update your RSVP as early as you can to give other women a chance to attend if you will not be showing up.
