What we're about

The idea behind this group is to create a common space and cultural hub where anyone interested in filmmaking can come and share his/her passion with other filmmakers so we can all learn from each other’s experience and improve our skills through passionate conversations as well as hands on practice. It is about building a community and share knowledge among this community. Be it in fiction, documentary, or with experimental projects, filmmaking can sometimes be an extremely lonely road, especially when someone is starting in this creative industry or is embarking himself/herself onto ambitious new projects. One common dilemma is the lack of support and productive feedback from other peers. We wish to attempt to filll that gap outside of conventional spaces.

Open-mic coffee catch-ups

Therefore, every second week we are holding open-mic sessions in a lovely coffee place in Brighton. Anyone can join, and meet with buddy filmmakers, network, share ideas and make potential new friendships in a laid back environment. Students, beginners, experienced people…you are all welcome!

Workshops

Then once every few weeks we will hold workshops on specific themes or skills in a studio environment, where we will have access to projectors, equipment, etc. to work on a more practical basis and have fun with it. If anyone has specific skills they would love to share with the community, please get in touch with us and we will make it happen.

A mentorship model for those interested

If you have a project but you are still unsure about how to go about it, please join us for a coffee chat as well. Experienced filmmakers and cinematographers are also offering mentorship for anyone interested in getting some guidance or feedback on specific projects. It does not mean they will do the project on your behalf, but sometimes the only thing someone needs is to troubleshoot his ideas with others to get back on track with fresh ones. We are always on the lookout for new mentors that would love to guide younger people or with less experience in specific fields.

Get in touch

If you are looking for something specific that you would absolutely love to discuss with the group, don’t be shy and get in touch!
