Apache Kafka is an open-source stream-processing platform. It can process high volume, real-time data feeds and has found use at a wide variety of companies. James Grant presents an introduction to Kafka, discussing what it does, how it does it and why you'd want to use it. He will then focus on the compaction mode for log cleanup, which can be used for distributed read-only copies of a data store.
We're pleased to welcome James Grant to speak again. James is currently Senior Software Engineer at Hotels.com, specialising in data (transportation, storage and processing) and systems architecture.
We will have beer, soft drinks and pizza supplied by our sponsors Brandwatch. Doors open at 7pm with a chance for developers to meet and talk. The presentation begins at 7:30pm. Developers of all levels are encouraged to join us.
This evening will be live streamed with a recording to be posted on our YouTube channel shortly after. The stream starts at 7:30pm and is located at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLLpkc3U55Q
