What we're about

Trying to help each other get the most out of this amazing art as passed down from the Yang family.

Surrey Tai Chi Club was founded by Kevin Bryant in 2003. He moved to Hove in 2013 and established Brighton Tai Chi Club. He has slowly begun introducing Yeung Family Tai Chi to a handful of students while continuing his teaching practice in Surrey. His longer-term aim is to develop an equally robust school in the Brighton area while emphasizing quality over quantity. Teaching relationships are built one at a time.

We attempt to cater to all levels of interest whether for health, stress reduction, self-defense, or spiritual development - always with a smile and a good dose of humour! Deep study is available to all who show sincere interest and commitment.

Tai Chi on the Crescent

Adelaide Crescent Gardens

Start your Sunday off the right way, come join us for a bit of tai chi overlooking the sea. A few minutes of gentle stretching followed by sections of the Yeung Family form (Yang Style).

No experience necessary. When the sun is out and the skies are blue, "sublime" is the word that comes to mind. Even the grey days don't seem so grey as we help you make your own sun!

The session is led by Kevin Bryant, a 24-year practitioner of Yeung Family Tai Chi. He has studied with some of the modern greats of Yeung Family Tai Chi and he is a long time teacher in Surrey where he has taught hundreds of students. He moved to Hove in 2013 and has begun to build a presence in the Brighton area. This session is no longer a taster session but a regular class. Class fees will be £10 per class. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact us separately and we will try to come to an alternative arrangement.

Yang Family Tai Chi - All levels

Cornerstone Community Centre

£12.00

Learn from Kevin Bryant, a 25-plus year student and 18-plus year teacher of Yang (Yeung) Family Tai Chi Chuan. He has studied with the greats of 'Yang style' Tai Chi, Chu Gin Soon (Boston, USA), the second disciple of Yang Sau Chung, and for the last 23 years, Jim Uglow (London), Direct Student of Yang Sau Chung's daughter, Yang Ma Lee sifu. With a little research, it will be clear why this lineage is important - especially for those who want to begin a serious study of Tai Chi or who want to progress their Tai Chi beyond basic concepts.

Kevin has also accompanied his teacher on many training trips (15) to Hong Kong to train with Yang Ma Lee sifu and her husband James.

Though deep study is available to all who show interest and commitment, the class attempts to cater to all levels of interest whether health, stress reduction, self-defense, or spiritual development - always with a smile and a dose of humour!
