A gentle paced and mindful Hatha style class, allowing the space for postures to go deep. Sometimes including mudra, pranayama, and awareness of the Chakra energy centres. Bring a mat if you have one, but spares are available. £6 drop in, £5 concession.
Join me in some morning Hatha yoga. I like to work through some Surya Namaskar (sun salutations), asanas (postures), as well as a focus on breathing and pranayama. The session is mixed ability, as each posture has variations depending on what works for you. The practice is an internal experience, aiming to calm and quieten the mind, as well as harmonising the body and improving health. The cost is £6, £5 with concessions, or you can buy 10 classes for £50. Bring your own mat if you have one, but I do have spares.
This class is for you to unwind into your weekend, relaxed and with your intentions set! We start by warming up with a few rounds of a Sun Salutation variation, connecting with the body and breath. Yoga uses the breath in movement and postures to still the mind from its many fluctuations. We move into asana, posture practice, maintaining focus on the breath and awareness of the Chakra energy centres, incorporating the use of mudras (hand gestures) and mantras. The aim of physical yoga is to prepare the body and mind for pranayama and meditation. We spend 60 minutes in the physical aspect of yoga, then we work on a pranayama breathing exercise and meditation practice, finishing with a long and nurturing Savasana. The meditation is sometimes a breath meditation, sometimes a mantra or Chakra meditation. The room is lovely and quiet, like a calm bubble, allowing you to go deeper into your meditation practice. The class is suitable for all levels of experience. First class £5. Then £10 to drop in, or £30 for 5 sessions to use anytime within 6 months. Students can pay £25 for 5 classes. Bring a yoga mat if you have one, as spares are limited.
The practice of the physical asanas of yoga is to prepare body and mind for breathing and meditation. We will do one hour of physical yoga, followed by half an hour of pranayama (breathing exercise), meditation and relaxation. I also like to incorporate the use of mudras and mantras. A great way to end the weekend with intention setting, ready for a good nights sleep :) The charge is £6 if you have a Karma card with About Balance. Otherwise, £10 to drop in.
