What we're about
Upcoming events (2)
A ramble around some of Hove’s designated Conservation Areas.
We’ll do a circular walk starting and finishing at St Ann’s Well Gardens. We’ll visit the conservation areas known as Brunswick Town, The Avenues, Cliftonville and The Drive. Walk duration 2 hours.
Expect to see a range of architectural styles from Regency, through Italianate to mad red-brick Victorian villas. There’ll be some potted history along the way.
A donation of £1 would be appreciated to help pay the Meetup membership dues.
This is a ramble of some of the smaller and lesser known parks and green spaces in the city. Please note that there is one park which doesn't allow dogs but I can navigate any dog owners round it.
The start of the walk is steep and could be muddy and the area around the racecourse is exposed and could be cold, so wear sensible clothes.
Starting at the junction of Walpole Road and Walpole Terrace next to the Brighton College playing fields, we’ll walk north up Walpole Rd and turn left onto the footpath just before Hamilton Lodge. We then climb towards the Race Hill before looping round through Hanover towards Queens Park and back into Kemp Town.
We’ll end at Dorset Gardens in Kemp Town so it’s not quite circular. I’ll point people back to the start if needed.
Terrain: Mixed – there will be some inclines and we'll be walking through woods and grass so it could be squelchy!
