**Important** SB 460 - The Puppy Mill Bill

From: Stacey P.
Sent on: Tuesday, May 25, 2010 4:15 PM
Hello everyone,

S 460 would regulate the breeding of dogs for commerce. It is designed to address problems that arise from bad operators ? puppy mills ? that breed dogs on a large scale and in the conditions described above. Standards would be adopted by the Department of Agriculture to address animal care, including veterinary care, housing, exercise and record keeping. Local county officials would be charged with inspecting commercial breeding operations and with enforcement of the provisions, including revocation of a license for failure to comply with the licensure requirements.

It is vital that you contact your House Representative and respectfully ask them to support SB 460. A phone call would likely be best at this point. We are hearing that legislators are bogged down with emails. Remember that you are part of their community and they represent your voice in the legislature. They need to hear from you. Puppy mills are a drain on our shelters, tax dollars and communities. The cruelty is egregious. We are asking only for responsible care. Go here to find your representatives:

It's SO easy:

"Hi, my name is _________. I live in __________ County. I'm calling about
S460, the puppy mill bill. It's in finance committee and I would like Rep
to vote yes."

If you have any questions please reach out [address removed].
