Reflex Func Prog, Chatbot on Lambda+Lex, Scaffold your stack on the cloud

Details
Hello everyone!
Thanks for baring with us and having delayed the meetup 1 week while we had CampJS in melbourne. We've got some really varied talks, so if you'd like to learn something new, come along :-)
• Remember to keep your RSVP's up to date if your plans change so folks on the waitlist have a chance to attend.
Reflex - higher-order FRP for front-end development - Dave Laing - 40min
Straight from the curious world of AltJS languages (in this case where we compile haskell to JS), Dave will be taking us through functional reactive concepts, and how this can improve our results. In his own words:
"There has been a lot of buzz about Functional Reactive Programming over the last few years. Most of it has been about distant relatives of the original idea, which aren't anywhere near as powerful. This talk will be about Reflex, a Haskell library which uses FRP for front-end development with great correctness, composability and performance. Even if you're never going to touch Haskell with a ten-foot pole, the ideas should be interesting for those who have been following the various reactive technologies."
Scaffolding JS stacks with Yeoman, Cloud 66, Docker & Pushing to Cloud - Amin Mousavi Hasab - 20min
Want to kick start the way you get these projects and various stacks off the ground? Then this is for you. This is a talk about how fast we can build up most JS stacks using Yeoman, utilise Docker, choose the cloud provider we like and orchestrate our containers using Cloud 66.
Building a chatbot with AWS Lambda and Lex - John McKim - 20min
John built a chatbot using AWS Lambda (Nodejs of course) and AWS Lex for the AWS Chatbot Challenge. He will walk through building a Slack bot and using AWS Lex to add intelligence to the bot, and will touch on AWS Lambda & the Serverless framework.
We're still proudly sponsored by A&G, Console, & Just Digital People, meaning our events are free, a large venue and we have pizza and drinks :-)
We're always looking for people to get in touch about presenting interesting or insightful discoveries in the rapidly developing frontend or backend javascript world. See our page about presenting and hit the submit your talk link: https://brisjs.org/#present
See https://brisjs.org/ to learn more about us and see past talks, as well as check our github issues page for upcoming topics or make requests.
