BrisPHP Q2 2020 - PHP in Lambda, Security/Auth & Refactoring Legacy

Details

We snuck Q1 in just before the Rona locked us down. Now it's time to move online, we can't let the global pandemic hold us back. And before you ask, yes, all our speakers this time are named "Ben" 😂.

This is our first time running an online event, so we want to hear from you! How would you like to participate in BrisPHP online? Help us make the online version awesome with a few short questions: https://nathandench.typeform.com/to/RRo0kg

The event will take place over a Zoom webinar, the link is available to you once you RSVP. We will also be live streaming from our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnjs7ZykvgWGaSQiYCNxzeA

Talks:
What's new in PHP Land by Nathan Dench (https://twitter.com/nathandench)
Living under a rock? Spent your holidays locked up from the Rona? Have literally anything better to do than check /r/php and Twitter to find out what's new in PHP? Don't worry - Nathan has you covered with what's been happening in PHP land!

PHP in AWS Lambda, an introduction by Ben Plunkett (https://twitter.com/ben_plunkett)
You may remember him from "The ins and outs of CQRS", Ben is back to show you how to get PHP running in Lambda and share his experience with running it at scale.

Refactoring to modern standards in a legacy codebase by Ben Freke (https://twitter.com/BenFreke)
Ben is here to share how Squiz has maintained their 15+ year old CMS and improved it by adding modern coding standards, all the while supporting multiple PHP versions.

PHP Security and Authentication by Ben Dechrai (https://twitter.com/bendechrai)
While working at Auth0, Ben has gained a solid understanding of how to securely implement different authentication protocols in PHP. From OAuth, to OpenID Connect to Auth0, where do they all fit in and why can't I just do my own?

If you have an idea for a talk, post an issue on our GitHub: https://github.com/BrisPHP/meetups/issues (this is also a great place to look if you want to give a talk).

This meetup will again be made possible by our great sponsors: CreditSense, Neto and Infoxchange.
