Hi All

From: Debbie
Sent on: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 10:39 AM

Just a quick note to remind you of our next meetup on Thursday 29th March at 6.30 at the Villager at 185 George Street. This is a gorgeous little pub directly opposite the Casino. We will be on the ground floor and hopefully off to the right past the bar. There is food available and a great selection of beverages. ;)

Have posted the reading list for the next month in our discussion board. Of course reading is not compulsory but it will make it a bit more interesting if everyone reads something. As before it is up to you what you read and how many. If you don't like any of the selection that is all good. Be prepared to discuss a book of some description with the group even if it is to say I read XYZ and it was awful.

Reading list for April is:

The Cobra - Frederick Forsyth (thriller)
Delirium - Lauren Oliver (romance)
Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness - Alexander Fuller (Bio)
The Island of Dr Moreau - H.G. Wells (classic)
The Book Thief - Markus Zusak (war)

These are available at the library or most are online for free. Let me know if you have trouble finding a copy.

I don't intend for there to be hour long discussions on each book at the meetups so if we can keep it concise. I have opened up the discussion board for the march books and you are free to leave as much detail there for your fellow members about these books. These will be great reference for down the track. We will also have a discussion about "The Hunger Games" our first book to movie event. I know a few have seen it already and I have heard from many what a great movie it is. We will now be meeting around 5.30 for the start around 6.15 on saturday. Come early or you might not get a seat with us. If you are looking for other books- movies possibilities also out very soon or now are "The Lorax", "The Rum Diary" and "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel".

I have posted a few book launches and poetry events. I have a few other plans in the works and just need time to implement. Would like to have a weekend rummage through secondhand book shops, retail book outlets and markets once a month if others would be interested in some exploring. Of course this would be followed by some food and beverages.

Will be in touch soon with an overview of our latest meetups.

Hope to see you soon.
