Topic: Kogito - Business automation powered by cloud native Java
Java is entering a new era - the cloud native era. It can be made small, light and fast and at the same time as powerful as never before. Quarkus has changed the perception of Java in a cloud significantly and opened the door for the next generation of middleware where one of the important players is business automation- processes and rules.
Agenda:
In this live coding session you will see how easy and efficient building business applications can be. Starting from scratch we will go through all of these steps:
- Create projects equipped with business automation capabilities powered by Quarkus
- Design business rules and decision tables to cover your decision logic
- Model your business processes
- Develop services with hot reload to improve efficiency
- Monitor and trace your services with Prometheus and Grafana

Maciej Swiderski is a principal software engineer at Red Hat where he leads jBPM project and is also co-founder of the Kogito project. Since 2007 he is in business automation domain both from a development point of view and helping to adopt it in different sectors. He's passionate about open source and tries to promote it wherever possible. In his spare time he enjoys calm and relax life on the countryside and travels.
