In this season of 'festivity' Dr Julian Baggini, well known writer, public philosopher, Humanists UK patron and Bristol resident will present and lead a discussion on whether humans need festivals and celebration and why that might be. The theme will be religious festivals and celebrations such as winter solstice, hannukah and christmas. Why do we have them; what do they mean; should non-believers have them too?
Julian's approach is to provoke small thoughts about big subjects; big thoughts about small things; create seeds of thought which are then scatttered to either take root or not.

His website is www.microphilosophy.net

There will be refreshments and we ask for a £2 voluntary contribution to cover room hire and admin costs.

Some of us may go to the pub afterwards to carry on the conversation.
