We're kicking off a new series of meet-ups for the Bristol Open Data in 2019. Join us on Wednesday February 6th at the Just Eat offices in central Bristol to get ideas and projects rolling this year!
We'll be joined by Jamie Whyte, one of the directors of Open Data Manchester, who'll talk about the various aspects of community open data groups and facilitate discussions to help steer us through the year ahead.
We'll be holding meet-ups every other month to listen to interesting talks, get open data projects off the ground, network and generally bask in all things open data related!
The schedule for the evening will be as follows:
* 6pm Arrive
* 6:15 Introduction from Jen
* 6:20 Jamie White - Open Data Manchester - Open Data in the local community - Preparation, Projects and Planning.
* 7:20 "Community Shout Outs" (see below)
* 7:30 Networking
* 8pm End
Community Shout Outs - what are they?
We're going to continue a tradition started in other meetup groups where we allow a bit of time for any attendee to come up and give a quick shout out to the group about any subject/project/event that they think the other attendees might be interested in. The only "rules" are to keep it VERY brief (< a minute) and no selling or recruiting. If there's any details such as web addresses/twitter feeds / contact info then you pop them on a sticky note that we'll display for the rest of the event.
If for any reason you aren't comfortable speaking in front of the group, but still want to get some news out there, just speak to one of the organisers and we'll relay the information on your behalf.
Our venue and refreshments are kindly provided from the very generous Just Eat, who not only are supplying the room and equipment, but also beer, soft drinks and meat and vegetarian pizza (please note they do not have vegan options).
2nd Floor, Broad Quay House, Prince St, Bristol BS1 4DJ
There will be security on the door in reception, where you will have to sign in by name (the attendee list will be from the meetup.com event, so RSVP and please do update your attendance if you're not able to make it along)
The venue has a rear entrance which is wheelchair accessible, a downstairs accessible toilet & lifts.
As the rear entrance is locked outside of normal business hours - please send us a message before the event so that we can arrange to meet you.
